The area is as popular as it is trendy, a condensed version of Paris lives in Rue de Charonne.
The first impression when you discover the rooms is an appropriation of space. The 42 rooms occupy 5 floors and are conceived on the model of a cabin. Space is available and flexible. Each cabin offers all the services of a comfortable room. Flexible in its spaces and elements, the experience of living closer to the ground is what gives you that impression of freedom. Nothing is hung on the walls, the cabin is its own structure that leads to all services. The cabin has an extension that is a small desk. The bed is on a platform with its memory shape mattress that was custom-made. It is in the centre of the cabin. At night it becomes a large and comfortable bed for a good night’s sleep. During the day it’s a sofa for lounging, dining, working … A real freedom of action that entices you to take possession of the room as if it were a cabana, a memory of childhood. Fluency, autonomy, simplicity: the client is in a universe without formalities while very structured.

Considered for its innovative character the “HI shop” allows customers to buy all kinds of products related to the hotel’s atmosphere. Hi became the first hotel to produce a music album under its own label HI-print: HI!H by Frédéric Galliano.
Frédéric Galliano is a music passionate since his teenage days. At that time he had already acquired a wide cultural musical taste, such as Latino, jazz and Kraftwerk’s electronic preludes at the end of the 70’s.> Cliquez ici pour la suite
In the meantime, he was learning drums and piano, and started building an interest in African and Oriental music. His curiosity has no limits and he is interested in worldwide musicology which makes him a very special artist on the electronic scene.
He became a Dj by chance after he stood in for someone one night in a night club. His musical culture rapidly made him famous but his carrier really took off during the very popular parties “à la poursuite de la 13e note” and also because people could hear some of his remixes: “what’s up” in 1996 and “la yellow connection” in 1997.
To compose the album, Frédéric Galliano came as a resident artist at the HI hotel and his inspiration came from the different atmospheres he felt in every room and concepts as well as the communal areas. Every area of the hotel corresponds to a special feeling that was translated into music.
The album is composed of 9 tracks corresponding to the 9 concepts and 3 tracks for the communal areas of the hotel such as the happy bar, or the restaurant.
The album was launched in March 2008 after 2 years of work. It is sold in selected shops such as “lieu commun” and “Colette” in Paris.
Frédéric Galliano celebrated the launch of his album by playing at the HI hotel’s happy bar on May 9th 2008.
As with the first volume, we plunged into our extensive archives and looked for personal favorites as well as certified bangers, dovetailing the new and the old, the rough stuff and the soft, funky noises and epic melodies. Although we cast a slightly wider net with this one, you should consider every single track on the list a tried and true label classic, sounds that we think helped define what KOMPAKT is today. That goes for both the 2CD release (KOMPAKT CD 109) and the vinyl edition at hand, which holds the highlights from KOLLEKTION 2's hand-picked line-up. Again, we crowdsourced the tracklist and had our fans decide what is going to be on the vinyl... resulting in a very fine selection indeed.> Read more
KOLLEKTION 2 is a perfect opportunity to plug the first installment's gaping holes: feeling a little bit like we're robbing Peter to pay Paul, we had to make some pretty tough choices when compiling KOLLEKTION 1, such as the omission of a certain JÜRGEN PAAPE – after all, KOMPAKT's reclusive giant is responsible for some of our greatest releases, such as the timeless house ballad WIR FLIEGEN SOWEIT WIE NOCH NIE. It makes for a perfect entry point to KOLLEKTION 2 alongside other fixtures in our label canon like MICHAEL MAYER's PRIDE IS WEAKER THAN LOVE or LAWRENCE's TEASER.
